Fenway in the Community: Construction and Camaraderie
Fenway’s Director of Dentistry Dr. Frank Schiano and Dentist Dr. David Buczak had the opportunity to give back to the community earlier this month thanks to the Greater Boston Pilot Group of the Massachusetts Dental Society and Habitat for Humanity Greater Boston. Boston-area member dentists and their staff were given the opportunity to volunteer to help build new homes for deserving families in the city during a day of camaraderie and construction.
Habitat for Humanity Greater Boston, Inc. is a Massachusetts charitable nonprofit organization dedicated to building simple low-cost homes by forming partnerships with low-income families in need of decent and affordable housing.
“It was great to be able to do something for people in need—and a breath of fresh air to volunteer for an event that had little to do with teeth. We learned a lot about construction and each other. It was a wonderful team-building event. No experience was necessary; we just wore our sneakers and a smile!” says Day Captain Dr. Schiano.
Dr. Buczak adds, “Taking part in Habitat for Humanity was a great experience. As a public health dentist, I enjoy serving the community. Being able to step outside the clinic and do that in a different way was very rewarding.”
Doctors Schiano and Buczak exemplify what we at Fenway admire most about our staff: a commitment to serving the community that they carry with them on the job and off.
