This Saturday, women whose lives have been touched by cancer and their supporters will come together in the spirit of sisterhood for the 16th Annual Audre Lorde Cancer Awareness Brunch at Fenway Health. Attendees will find a space in which to share, network, laugh, cry, and rediscover their resilience and strength. This year’s brunch is themed “Healing Through Strength and Sisterhood” and will feature musical performances by Women of the World, survivor stories, a spiritual dedication, and more.
“This is a truly heartfelt event where women come together to support each other and connect in the spirit of celebration and healing,” said Dr. Jennifer Potter, Director of Women’s Health at Fenway.
Audre Lorde, the namesake of the brunch, was a writer, feminist, and civil rights activist. Lorde emphasized the importance of recognizing all aspects of our identities and uniting across our differences. She fought tirelessly to end the silence and stigma around issues like cancer and LGBT women’s health, increasing the visibility of our communities and inspiring generations of women to live authentically.
The Audre Lorde Brunch isn’t just a community gathering – it’s a place of support, healing, and togetherness for women impacted by cancer. Founded in 1999, the brunch has become a yearly gathering where these women to share their stories and celebrate their lives.
“There is a unique sense of strength, empowerment and community at this event,” Dr. Potter explained. “It is about uniting in sisterhood, advocating for what we need, and acknowledging the courage and resilience of cancer survivors and their supporters.”
The Audre Lorde Brunch will be held from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM on the 9th floor of our 1340 Boylston Street location. While the event is free, space is limited.
