Young Leaders Council To Celebrate Accomplishments At Anniversary Party

The fifth annual YLC Anniversary Party will be held Saturday, February 7 from 7:00 PM to 11:00 PM at The Sinclair, a live-music venue and American kitchen located in the heart of Harvard Square. When you buy a ticket, you’re not only giving to Fenway Health – you’re guaranteeing yourself a fantastic evening! This year’s party will feature the talents of local Nova Rock band LeoLeo and LGBT nightlife legend DJ LeahV. With so much musical magic in the house, you know you’ll be dancing the night away. Resistance is futile.

Fenway Health’s Young Leaders Council is made up of LGBT and ally young professionals who are dedicated to supporting the work of Fenway Health – and its members have many reasons to be proud! In 2014 alone, the over 200 YLC members raised more than $115,000 – all of which helped fund Fenway Health’s lifesaving programs and services. The 28 riders on Team YLC raised over $35,000 for Fenway Health at the 2014 Harbor to the Bay bike ride.

Bringing the community together through fun and informative events is another major function of the YLC. In the past year, the YLC hosted a Boston LGBT Film Fest screening, panels for National Coming Out Day and Transgender Awareness Week, a Harbor to the Bay trivia fundraiser, a clothing drive for Boomerangs, Happy Hour mixers for current and prospective members, and a fabulous fourth annual Anniversary Party featuring Olympian Caitlin Cahow. Chances are, if there’s an event for LGBT young professionals in Boston, it’s supported by the YLC!

Stephen Martyak is just one example of a YLC member who’s making great things happen. Martyak sits on the YLC Steering Committee and is the founder of studioTYAK, the studio that designed The Sinclair. He’s also worked with the international non-profit Hope For Haiti, helping build a new school complex for Haitian students in need.

“The YLC has provided me the opportunity to give back, both time and money, to a fantastic organization, all the while getting to know some incredible young professionals in the LGBT community,” said Martyak. “As a leading health care provider and research organization, Fenway Health is transforming the industry’s approach to LGBT health prevention and treatment.”

Martyak, who became a member of the YLC at the third annual Anniversary Party, is excited to be celebrating the YLC at a venue that is near and dear to his heart. It also doesn’t hurt that The Sinclair is an incredible space. “The 525-person rock club has three bars spread across two floors and one of the best sound systems in the city,” Martyak said. “Plus, the attached restaurant is a great place to grab dinner prior to the event.”

If you’re a YLC member, interested in joining the YLC, or just want to mix and mingle with some of young Boston’s best, please join us on February 7! This event sells out, so grab your tickets soon before they’re all gone. The space is accessible, and gender neutral restrooms are available. Tickets are $15 for YLC members and $25 for non members.
