Biomedical Prevention Focus Of 2015 Retrovirus Conference

The 2015 Conference on Retroviruses and Opportunistic Infections was recently held in Seattle. This conference, often called CROI for short, is one of the biggest annual scientific meetings on HIV/AIDS, opportunistic illnesses, and the health consequences of living with HIV. Biomedical prevention – in particular, PrEP – was a major focus of this year’s conference. Two European PrEP studies garnered a lot of attention due to their success in significantly reducing rates of HIV transmission.
