Fenway Health is excited to announce that our second annual Transgender Health Conference: Advancing Excellence in Transgender Health will be held this fall on September 23 and 24. Last year’s inaugural conference was a great success, with nearly 130 attendees from over 60 health centers and organizations filling the auditorium of our Ansin Building. We anticipate this year to draw an even larger crowd, so please register as soon as possible!
The conference will feature an educational program for health care providers and members of health care teams in community health centers, safety-net organizations and student health clinics. Local and nationally-recognized experts in the field will lead participants through the fundamentals of providing high-quality, compassionate care for transgender people.
Hosted at Fenway Health’s beautiful ten-story health center overlooking Fenway Park, this conference is produced by our team of medical, mental health, and health research experts. The conference program includes foundational material for all members of health care teams as well as specialized content for both medical and behavioral health care providers.
Conference sessions will cover a wide range of transgender health topics, including:
- Gender Affirmative Health Care: Terminology, Demographics, and Epidemiology
- Gender Identity Development
- Cross Sex Hormone Therapy
- Gender Affirming Psychotherapy
- Working with Children and Families
For more than forty years, Fenway Health has been working to make life healthier for the LGBT community, people living with HIV/AIDS, and all people in our neighborhoods and beyond. Fenway Health providers cared for more than 2,000 people of transgender experience last year – more than any other health care provider in New England. We are thrilled to be able to offer this innovative conference as a learning opportunity for our community, and we hope you’ll join us!
