New Fenway Bathroom Signage Focuses On Gender Inclusivity

By October 31, 2016Fenway News, Trans

Fenway Health is committed to ensuring that all our patients, community, and staff members feel welcome in expressing their gender identity. Everyone deserves respect, safety, and equal access to public facilities – in fact, this is a critical public health issue. We have always encouraged visitors to our facilities to use the restroom that they feel most comfortable in. Last week, reflecting the input of our Transgender Health Working Group, restroom signage was installed at all Fenway locations to make this clearer.

Now when you visit a Fenway Health location, you will see the following changes:

Single person restrooms at all locations will now be labeled ALL GENDER restrooms.

Multi-person restrooms in locations with additional single person restrooms at that location will have additional wording to encourage people to use the restroom that best fits their gender identity as well as giving locations of single person restrooms.

Multi-person restrooms in locations where no single person restrooms are available will have additional wording to encourage people to use the restroom that best fits their gender identity.

We hope these new signs will make our facilities more inclusive and welcoming for our entire diverse community.
