The Fenway Institute Denounces President’s Attempts To Prohibit Transgender People From Serving In The Military

The Fenway Institute today denounced a series of tweets by President Trump seeking to ban transgender people from serving in the U.S. military. “Thousands of transgender people are either currently serving or have served our country bravely and honorably,” said Sean Cahill, PhD, Director of Health Policy Research at The Fenway Institute at Fenway Health. “It is unfortunate that President Trump is tweeting in a way that will reinforce prejudice and discrimination which affects the health and well-being not just of the patriotic transgender Americans who are serving our country, but all transgender people.” When strung together, the tweets read:

Fenway Health Statement On Senate Vote To Proceed On Health Care Bill Vote

Today, the United States Senate voted to proceed with debate on a bill to either repeal the Affordable Care Act (ACA) or one that would repeal and then replace the ACA. There is no text of the bill available for the public to review and the Congressional Budget Office (CBO), which provides Congress with nonpartisan analysis of legislation, will not have an opportunity to project the likely impact of the bill before Senators vote. Dr. Jennifer Potter Named Professor at Harvard Medical School

Jennifer Potter, MD, LGBT Population Health Program Director and Co-Chair of The Fenway Institute, has been named a Professor at Harvard Medical School (HMS). An announcement from the HMS LGBTQ and Allies group cited the appointment as recognition of Dr. Potter’s “hard work in LGBT health research and education.” Dr. Jennifer Potter has been named a Professor at Harvard Medical School. “The most exciting development during my career is seeing LGBT Health become an internationally recognized and growing field.
