Boston City Council Hears Testimony About Needs of LGBTQ Youth of Color

In response to a report by The Fenway Institute released late last year finding that more than 15 percent of Boston’s LGBTQ youth of color had traded sex for money, food, shelter, or other resources, the Boston City Council’s Committee On Healthy Women, Families & Communities held a hearing September 27 on the needs of the city’s LGBTQ youth of color. Called by District 8 Councilor Josh Zakim, the hearing drew approximately 35 attendees and featured testimony from youth, adults who work with youth, social scientists, academic experts, and officials from Boston Public Schools and the Boston Public Health Commission.

Fenway: South End Launches Family Medicine – Now Seeing Patients of All Ages!

Fenway Health is proud to announce the arrival of Family Medicine at its Fenway: South End location to welcome patients of all ages to the site, including children, as it expands upon existing Family services offered at main 1340 Boylston location. Following summer renovations, the Fenway: South End construction is now wrapping up in its final stages, with many of the new exam rooms and clinical spaces already being utilized to accommodate the new program.  Additionally, our staff continues to grow, with recent additions of several new providers dedicated solely to the new Family program. CDC finds that high school age gay and bisexual males have much higher rates of substance use than their heterosexual male peers

Today, the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) released data showing that high school age males in the U.S. who are gay or bisexual report much higher rates of substance use than heterosexual males. Findings from the report titled, “Sexual Identity, Sex of Sexual Contacts, and Health-Related Behaviors Among Students in Grades 9-12 – United States and Selected Sites, 2015,” highlights results from the 2015 Youth Risk Behavior Survey (YRBS) and details the risk behavior disparities of sexual minority youth, as compared with their heterosexual peers. Fenway: South End Expands to Welcome Family Medicine

Fenway: South End at 142 Berkeley Street is growing this summer with some exciting new changes on the horizon. In addition to new facilities and expanded space, we are excited to announce the launch of Family Medicine in the South End later this fall. The build-out, which kicked off in May and is currently underway on both the second and fourth floors, will allow Fenway: South End to better serve the community and our surrounding neighborhood, while continuing to deliver the highest quality of care to all patients. YLC To Celebrate Six Fabulous Years With Party At The Sinclair
